About Affiliation

The Jiu-Jitsu Brotherhood exists to allow progressive and open-minded martial artists to support each other in their endeavours to grow as martial artists and professionals. Our members are committed to the lifelong process of developing themselves physically, mentally and spiritually.

As an affiliate, you will be joining a global team of like-minded individuals who love Brazilian jiu-jitsu and want to help it grow. Although your technical level as a grappler is taken into consideration, your character is of primary importance.

Our organization is founded on the principles of honesty and openness. There are no politics involved. Bad mouthing of other individuals, teams or systems is not tolerated. The Jiu-Jitsu Brotherhood is not for bullies, frauds or those those not willing to challenge themselves.

Full use of the Jiu-Jitsu Brotherhood Logo on all signs and marketing materials.

  • Gradings

When appropriate, you will be graded by a Jiu-Jitsu Brotherhood black belt.

  • Monthly Consultation

1 X 30 minute Skype / Telephone Consultation per month. These will provide you with assistance for everything related to teaching bjj classes, as well as answer any jiu-jitsu specific technique, conditioning and nutrition questions you may have.

  • Website Listing

Your dojo will be listed on our ‘Official Academies’ page, giving you the benefit of our extensive site traffic and web presence.

  • Seminars & Private Lessons

Affiliates benefit from reduced rates for Jiu-Jitsu Brotherhood seminars and private lessons. All affiliate school instructors are also given 3 hours of free private instruction per year which are used to analyse, and improve their jiu-jitsu and teaching ability.

Affiliation Requirements

  • Essay

500 word essay detailing how and why you came to be involved in BJJ, and why you feel joining the Jiu-Jitsu Brotherhood is appropriate for you and your students.

  • Testimonials

You will need to provide two written testimonials from contactable references in the martial arts – preferably students or sparring partners.

  • Teaching Demonstration
You will be expected to provide a short video of yourself demonstrating a technique or concept.
  • Affiliation Fee

$150 USD monthly

  • Seminars

As an official academy, until you reach the black belt level you will be required to host a at least one seminar per year. These will be used for gradings and to provide hands-on assistance to ensure the growth and development of your school and students.
